A rung that filled before its date is done rather than overdue, so a completed plan does not carry a permanent false alarm. Distance is measured from each family's own cash bid, which is the board plus their local basis.
Over cost is measured against that family's own break-even, so the same target price is a good rung for one client and a bad one for their neighbour. The desk's cushion is $0.10, because a break-even is itself an estimate and pricing exactly at one is pricing at the midpoint of an error bar.
